cities liveable
We believe that trees play a key role in making and keeping our paved cities liveable. More attention and care for soil condition in which the trees grow is rewarded by a healthier tree with a longer life expectancy.

Trees in the city were planted because of the character trees give to a particular place. That is changing, there are 2 changes going on.
The first is already becoming mainstream:
– Functional trees (green infrastructure). Trees are now being planted more and more because of their multifunctionality in public spaces. More than just beautifying the cityscape. Think: wind control, absorption of particulate matter, optimization of rainwater management etc. etc.
The second change is happening now:
– A new underground infrastructure, soil biology. We increasingly understand the function of soil organisms. Soil and soil biology are the basis for the successful functioning of trees, both in the forest and in the city. Underground root zones are connected to underground networks of healthy soils and soil biology.
