Structural soil

A root-Penetrable road foundation material. A mix of (no fines) and soil. Where the stones form a skeleton stable enough to serve as road foundation material. The strength of structural soil depends entirely on the strength of the stone type and the sieve fraction. On average, 75% of the volume is taken up by the stones. The open pores are filled with soil, in which the tree roots find their way.

Structural soil is a product that is mostly produced locally. This is not only because of the different regulations that often apply in the various countries, but also because transport over longer distances is not cost-effective or environmentally friendly.

If our production locations are not in your region, then we can, together with you, provide information regarding the specifications and application forms that are applicable to you. Produced with locally available raw materials.

Sandbased structural soil

Sandbased Structural soil is applied in areas where some post settlement is allowed. For a correct application the product may not be maximally compacted.

sandbased

Large gravel based structural soil

Within the range of structural soils, the large version provides the longest period of delaying damage to pavement caused by root growth.

large gravel

Medium gravel based structural soil

Most of fered product stone size approx 20-40mm. This product is easy to produce and process. With many application possibilities

medium

Mini gravel based structural soil

Alternative to sandbased structural soil. It can be compacted to the maximum extent and applied arount pipes, it causes no damage to the pipes.

mini gravel

Soil volume calculator

How many cubic metres do you need for a tree? Rules of thumb, such as 1 m3 (qm) per year of growth or 0.75 m3 per m2 of crown projection are often used. We are noting that these rules of thumb are still often used without further interpretation of the underlying assumptions. Treerootsystems is pleased to perform the necessary calculations to respond to this question.

We use the calculation standards published by the Dutch National Tree Institute for this purpose, in combination with climate zones of your project. The software used is based on both empirical and various scientific studies. See also the most comprehensive study conducted by Bartlett Tree research.
