Soil cell system
A substructure under the road filled with soil. An underground open structure, which carries the road structure. The construction can be filled with any type of soil, creating a large continuous soil volume under the road. An open air layer in the system between the soil and the cover ensures optimal aeration. The soil is completely relieved of any traffic loads or weight of the road structure, creating ideal conditions for tree roots.

Soil volume calculator
How many cubic metres do you need for a tree? Rules of thumb, such as 1 m3 (qm) per year of growth or 0.75 m3 per m2 of crown projection are often used. We are noting that these rules of thumb are still often used without further interpretation of the underlying assumptions. Treerootsystems is pleased to perform the necessary calculations to respond to this question.
We use the calculation standards published by the Dutch National Tree Institute for this purpose, in combination with climate zones of your project.
