How many cubic metres do you need for a tree? Rules of thumb, such as 1 m3 (qm) per year of growth or 0.75 m3 per m2 of crown projection are often used. We are noting that these rules of thumb are still often used without further interpretation of the underlying assumptions. Treerootsystems is pleased to perform the necessary calculations to respond to this question.
We use the calculation standards published by the Dutch National Tree Institute for this purpose, in combination with climate zones of your project. The software used is based on both empirical and various scientific studies. See also the most comprehensive study conducted by Bartlett Tree research.
